Early Career Doctoral Student Academic Careers Workshop – Chicago IL
Early Career Doctoral Students Academic Careers Workshop (EC-ACW) targets 2nd and 3rd year doctoral students with the goal of exposing the students to academic careers.
The goal of the workshop is to cover the following topics:
- Academic career ladder
- Importance of networking and collaborations
- Work-life balance
- What is expected of faculty candidates
- The art of technical storytelling
- Building one’s teaching portfolio
The workshop targets participants from the following communities in doctoral programs in computing at U.S. institutions: African Americans/Blacks, Native Americans/Indigenous People, Hispanics/Latinx, and People with Disabilities.
EC-ACW is organized by CMD-IT, in collaboration with AccessComputing and CAHSI, and is funded by an NSF grant.
