Dr. Ann Quiroz Gates is the Vice Provost at the University of Texas at El Paso and holds the AT&T Distinguished Professorship. She has served in various leadership roles, including Chair of the Computer Science Department (2005-2008, 2012-2020) and Associate VP of Research and Sponsored Projects (2008-2012). Dr. Gates is the Executive Director of the Computing Alliance for Hispanic Serving Institutions (CAHSI), an NSF initiative promoting inclusion and equity in science and technology. She also directs the NSF-funded CyberShARE Center of Excellence, which advances interdisciplinary education and research.
The webinar will be moderated by Federico Cifuentes-Urtubey, a LEAP Fellow and Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on reducing information leakage in Wi-Fi protocols. He has received the GIANT Student Diversity Leadership Award and recognition as an Outstanding Teaching Assistant.
